Mates Fest 8
This year, WWCT is a proud sponsor of the 8th annul Peoria Indie/Punk/Rock/Metal/Hip-Hop/ETC. music festival, Mates Fest. The original event occurred when Chance Rush wanted to get all his friends bands, of different genres, together at one show and donate the proceeds to a local charity. Each year Mates Fest has chosen a different Local Charity to support. After 3 years, Chance moved away and left Mates Fest in the hands of Chris Golwitzer, and a few other friends, to continue on, this year with the added help from Diplomatic Relations. Over the past 8 years, the event has grown from 2 nights of live music and mostly local bands to 4 nights and 2 days, featuring music from all over the country, as well as a ton of local and regional artists. This year there are currently 63 artists/bands scheduled to perform and the festival will benefit The JOLT Foundation (www.joltfoundation.org), a wonderful, local 501c3 which distributes Naloxone for free, and provides training on how to utilize it. Naloxone helps to block the effects of opioids, especially in the case of overdoses.
Advanced Tickets and Weekend Passes are still available for one more day at: http://matesfest8.brownpapertickets.com
